This policy explains what personal data Oren collects, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have. Oren is operated by RECIO LTD (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in the United Kingdom. We are the “data controller” for the personal data described here under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Oren helps you log meals and track calories, macros, weight, and water. Some of that information relates to your diet and body weight and may be considered health-related information, which we treat with extra care (see “Health-related information”).

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered your rights and only process what is necessary. You can object to this processing (see section 7).
To turn a photo or description into a nutrition estimate, we send the image or text to OpenAI, L.L.C., which processes it on our behalf and returns the estimated food name, calories, and macros. We send only what is needed for the estimate. The image or text is transmitted for analysis and is not stored by us as part of your saved history — only the resulting estimate (which you can edit) is saved. OpenAI is located in the United States, so this involves an international transfer of data (see section 6).
Your logged data is stored on your device and is also backed up to your private account in our cloud so it can be restored if you reinstall the app or move to a new device.
Each processor only handles your data to provide its service to us and under contract terms that require appropriate safeguards.
Our primary storage is in the UK/EU (London region). When data is sent to OpenAI (US) or to Apple, it may be transferred outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data; to restrict or object to certain processing; and to withdraw consent at any time.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we'd appreciate the chance to help first.
Some data you enter — your weight and dietary information — may be “data concerning health,” a special category under UK GDPR. We process it only to provide the app's tracking and estimation features, on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you enter the information. You can withdraw that consent and remove the data at any time by deleting the relevant entries or your account.
Oren is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
If we make material changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Significant changes may also be highlighted in the app.
